Q1. What is the importance of ecosystem?

Ans. Balance between the living organism and the physical environment surrounding them is called ecosystem.

Q2. Why did the Chipko Movement take place?

Ans. Chipko Movement took place to stop cutting down of trees. In this movement people were hugging the trees protect them from being cut.

Q3. What are the reasons for environmental pollution?

Ans. Increased human interference in the nature and unplanned use of technology leads to environmental pollution.

Q4. How can natural environment be managed properly?

Ans. We can manage environment by following ways:-

a.       Exhausting nature according to our need.

b.      By following 4R- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Restore, to avoid over exploitation of nature.

Q1. Explain the relationship between geography and environment.

Ans.- Relationship between geography and environment is as follows:-

-          Geographical condition determines the Environmental factors of any place, such as- air pressure, Temperature, Rainfall, Humidity, etc.

-          Geographical Position on the surface of earth also affects the climate of the place which depends upon heat zones.

Q2. Describe the main features of natural and human-made environment.

Ans.- Natural Environment:-

-          It has different land structures, like- Mountain, forest, river, sea, etc.

-          It includes biotic and abiotic component of the environment.

        Man made environment:-

-          The nature is modified by the human according to their comfort is called human made environment.

-          It includes:- Roads, Parks, Buildings, Dams, Agriculture, Industries, etc.

Q3.  How have human needs undergone changes with the passage of time and technological development?

Ans.- Human needs changed with time, In the beginning humans develop simple tools, later they used metals to create machines and to run these machines they used coal. With the discovery of petroleum machines become smaller and efficient. This way continuous development in technology increased the demand of natural resource as well as greed of energy, which has led to environmental pollution.

Q4. What are the problems faced by the world today? How can we solve these problems?

Ans.- Due to increased human activities, world is facing lots of problem, like- Pollution, Global warming, Deforestation, extinction of Species, etc.

To overcome from these problems it is very important to use the natural resources according to our need and develop environment friendly means of energy, like- Solar Energy, Wind Energy, etc.
